Our School - Extra Curricular Activities
Woodford provides a wide variety of activities and experiences to students beyond the traditional curriculum subjects.
Sporting School Program - we offer students the opportunity to participate in the Sporting School Sports Program.
Some examples of the sports we have used in the past include; surfing, athletics, tennis, fencing, calisthenics, soccer, hockey and hip hop dance.
State Schools Spectacular - Grade 5/6 students have the opportunity to perform in the annual State Schools Spectacular concert at Hisense area. After many months of practice they perform on stage in front of 10 000 people.
Choir - Students in selected year levels are eligible to be part of our middle school. Our choirs rehearse weekly, and have the opportunity to perform in public throughout the year. Our Woodford choir is sought after by community groups to perform at local events.
Inter School Sports - Woodford students have a long and proud history of competing at interschool championships. The students are given every opportunity to train and compete throughout the year. Our school teams include; swimming, athletics, cross country, t-ball, soccer, netball, football, equestrian, Hip Hop dance, to name only some. All students are given the opportunity to participate in sporting competitions with a focus on Personal Best achievement at all times. Students participating at interschool events a provided with specialist coaching and training to ensure they are confident to represent our school.
International Exchange - In 2014 our students participated in their first international exchange to China. This opportunity is expected to be offered to the Grade5/6 students as a regular event on the school calendar. In 2015 our Sister School from Jinling Primary School in Nanjing, China visited Woodford. Our wonderful families looked after the Chinese students during a homestay experience. In 2016 our students travelled back to China to our Sister Schools across China, spending two weeks in country. Another two groups of students travelled back to our Sister school in Nanjing in 2017 & 2018.
We are currently preparing a new group of students to travel to Changchun and Beijing in September 2019.
Camps
Our Prep - Year Two students participate in an after school evening activity each year, which is a fun event for everyone.
The Grade 3/4 students alternate between Kangaroobie and Anglesea each year.
Our Grade 5/6 classes have Melbourne and Ballarat camp opportunities each year, alternating between the two venues.
Grade 3-6 students also participate in an annual Leadership Sleepover for one night early in term 1 on the school grounds. Students may choose to sleep inside or in tents and swags.
