SPECIALIST PROGRAM

Art

At Woodford Primary School, our weekly Art program provides every student with the opportunity to explore creativity, develop technical skills and express their ideas through a wide range of visual arts experiences. Students engage in drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media and contemporary art practices, building confidence while learning to reflect on and refine their work. The program nurtures imagination, critical thinking and persistence, ensuring the arts remain a valued and visible part of our curriculum. Every second year, our entire school community comes together to celebrate this learning at our whole-school Art Show, proudly showcasing student work and transforming the school into a vibrant gallery of creativity and achievement.

Music

Woodford Primary School offers a vibrant and engaging music program that nurtures creativity, confidence and performance skills across all year levels. Students participate in a rich curriculum that develops their understanding of rhythm, melody, instrumental techniques and ensemble performance, while fostering collaboration and stage presence. Every second year, our entire school community proudly showcases this learning at our major School Concert held at the Lighthouse Theatre Warrnambool. Performing in a professional theatre setting is a highlight for students and families alike, providing an authentic, high-quality performance experience that celebrates the talent, dedication and collective spirit of Woodford Primary School.

Physical education

At Woodford Primary School, all students participate in weekly Physical Education lessons designed to build fundamental movement skills, game sense, teamwork and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. In addition, students in Years 3–6 take part in an extra weekly Sport session, providing further opportunities to develop sport-specific skills, fitness and competitive understanding. Regular physical activity plays a vital role in promoting student wellbeing — supporting physical health, improving concentration and resilience, strengthening social connections and enhancing overall mental health. Through a structured and inclusive PE and Sport program, we encourage every student to be active, confident and committed to healthy lifestyles.

Science

At Woodford Primary School, our Science program provides students with rich, hands-on STEM learning experiences that build curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. Students engage in innovative technologies such as 3D printing, coding and robotics, applying design-thinking processes to solve real-world problems. Through platforms such as Minecraft Education, they explore digital problem-solving and collaborative design, while drone technology introduces concepts of engineering, physics and spatial awareness. Complementing these technologies, our strong focus on environmental education ensures students develop an understanding of sustainability, ecosystems and responsible stewardship of the natural world—preparing them with the knowledge and skills required for the future.
